Saint Louis Ballet maintains the classical elements that make The Nutcracker a holiday tradition for so many Saint Louis families, but “refreshes” the production each year with playful, new choreography and eye-opening special effects. A glorious spectacle on the vast Touhill stage, Saint Louis Ballet’s The Nutcracker has become a perennial favorite with its memorable Tchaikovsky score, impressive sets and costumes, and unforgettable performances by its company of talented dancers.

Fascinatin’ Rhythm…’S Wonderful…The Man I Love…Embraceable You.  Seventeen of George Gershwin’s best loved songs, arranged by Hershy Kay, set the Valentine’s mood in the marvelous George Balanchine ballet Who Cares? -- first performed at Lincoln Center in 1970.  Saint Louis Ballet pays glittering homage to Manhattan with solo, duet and ensemble dancing that is athletic, playful, delicate, and charming.  Also on the bill is guest choreographer Francis Patrelle’s New Work and artistic director Gen Horiuchi’s New Work. An afternoon/evening that’s full of heart.

Lavish costumes, spectacular pageantry, and the world’s most famous kiss! A classical masterpiece, Gen Horiuchi’s The Sleeping Beauty represents ballet’s golden age with its large cast of fanciful characters, grand pas de deux, spectacular action and powerful love story. Fate rests in the hands of a small band of fairies and a courageous prince.  Will they defeat the evil witch and fire-breathing dragon to save the kingdom? Just one kiss has the power to break the spell and change their lives forever! A magical delight for children and adults.
